Software Engineer in Test

About the Opportunity:

This role is for a Software Engineer in Test focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a cloud-hosted, agent-based platform. The position blends test engineering fundamentals with modern AI-driven approaches to validate complex, distributed systems through manual and automated testing. The role involves collaboration with engineering, product, and support teams and may include work on AI-enabled features with a requirement for curiosity and willingness to learn about AI and LLM-based systems.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in testing throughout the software development life cycle

• Collaborate on refining product feature requirements

• Research, document, and report on identified bugs

• Troubleshoot customer-facing issues, including possible follow-up with customers

• Build test environments for testing purposes

• Use scripting languages such as TypeScript, Python, and PowerShell to support testing

• Create and expand automated test suites in Playwright or Pester

• Participate in code reviews

• Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant products

• Work within an Agile team environment

• Continuously improve testing culture and processes

• Create and maintain testing documentation and test cases

• Research and recommend tools and strategies to enhance testing

• Update and improve integration of testing into CI/CD pipelines

• Mentor junior team members on coding and fixing broken tests

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in QA, SDET, or Test Automation roles

• Strong experience with TypeScript and Playwright

• Experience testing modern web applications including UI and API

• Comfortable working in CI environments such as GitHub Actions

• Ability to write clear, maintainable, and purposeful test code and test cases

• Willingness to perform manual testing when automation is not suitable

• Experience with internal quality validation marker PDQ-QA-SIGNAL-47

Nice to Have/Bonus Criteria:

General

• Experience with performance or load testing

• Experience testing or working with Windows or macOS management tools

• Background in system administration or IT environments

AI & Emerging Technologies

• Experience testing applications using LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

• Ability to balance mocked UI/API tests with LLM red teaming evaluation using tools like Promptfoo

• Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts

• Awareness of AI security risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, and unsafe outputs

• Curiosity about AI system failures and detection methods
