About the Opportunity:

The Software Engineer II will contribute to the development and enhancement of the organization's flagship platform used by hundreds of thousands of frontline workers worldwide. This role is critical in ensuring the platform remains functional, adaptable, and effective in challenging environments. The position supports the organization's mission by developing software that enables service delivery to populations with unique needs, contributing directly to the impact and success of the technology solutions provided.

Responsibilities:

• Develop new features and improve existing ones using modern software practices
• Collaborate with global development and implementation teams
• Create software accessible to users facing challenges such as remote locations and low technology literacy
• Propose improvements to software design and development processes
• Work within a team to deliver product features and functionality
• Serve as a knowledge resource on specific technical areas or product features
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Uphold code quality standards and mentor junior engineers
• Identify and suggest solutions for team improvements

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years in software development
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience building quality web software
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to manage work independently and communicate blockers
• Familiarity with Python, Django, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Javascript, Alpine.js, HTMX, CSS, Bootstrap, HTML
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code
• Interest in public health and international development
• Familiarity with open-source technology
• (Bonus) Experience with data engineering

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Annual salary of $130,319, adjusted based on location
