2. About the Opportunity:
The Software Engineer II on the Developer Platform Team plays a key role in enhancing the foundational tools and systems that engineers use daily to build, test, and ship services. This position involves improving the codebase, build processes, and continuous integration to increase reliability and ease of use at production scale. The role requires hands-on engineering, ownership of moderate-complexity projects, and collaboration with product engineering teams to develop durable platform improvements. Additionally, the position contributes to integrating AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate and improve development workflows.
3. Responsibilities:
• Improve core developer workflows for compiling, testing, packaging, and validating code changes.
• Develop shared engineering foundations such as libraries, frameworks, and build patterns.
• Enhance continuous integration speed and reliability to maintain development progress and quality.
• Address recurring developer challenges by creating tools, documentation, automation, and platform improvements.
• Apply AI tools and agent-based workflows to automate tasks and improve developer experiences.
• Collaborate with service teams to understand needs and support platform adoption and usability.
4. Requirements:
• Strong software engineering skills in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or similar production languages with experience in large shared codebases.
• Experience with build systems, dependency management, continuous integration, or test infrastructure; familiarity with tools like Bazel, SBT, Maven, Gradle, or GitHub Actions is valuable.
• Ability to debug complex build, test, and workflow issues and implement fixes through tooling, automation, or documentation.
• Product-focused mindset on developer experience, emphasizing usability, feedback, adoption, and efficiency improvements.
