About the Opportunity:

The Software Engineer, Compute (8+ YOE) role focuses on advancing the maturity of the Kubernetes platform infrastructure that supports the company’s services. This position drives the design, implementation, and scaling of core platform capabilities, contributing to improved developer experience, platform security, and operational excellence. The role combines hands-on engineering with mentorship and cross-team collaboration to influence infrastructure strategy and support enterprise growth.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and scale Kubernetes platform capabilities across approximately 70 clusters in different environments.

• Lead modernization initiatives such as migrating to a new CNI plugin for IP security rule management.

• Rewrite core deployment services to improve scalability and performance.

• Enhance developer workflows and operational best practices.

• Collaborate with Security to implement governance, access controls, and infrastructure safeguards.

• Define and uphold operational standards including service level objectives.

• Allocate time between hands-on engineering, design reviews, mentorship, and collaboration.

• Review architecture proposals and guide infrastructure decisions.

• Mentor engineers on distributed systems and Kubernetes platform design.

• Work closely with developers deploying services.

Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience with expertise in Kubernetes-based internal service platforms.

• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes internals including controllers/operators, CRDs, networking, and cluster architecture.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, OpenTofu, Pulumi, or similar.

• Familiarity with CI/CD and deployment tools like Spinnaker, ArgoCD, Flux, Jenkins, or similar.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams.

• Strong ownership, autonomy, and partnership with product engineers.

• Preferably experienced with AWS infrastructure and EKS.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• For work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles, the base salary range for this role is $196,000 to $339,900 USD.

• Compensation varies based on location, skills, and experience.
