Software Engineer 3 - Query Optimization

2. About the Opportunity:

The Software Engineer 3 - Query Optimization role is centered on enhancing the performance and robustness of the organization''s query engine. This position involves developing and refining query language features, diagnostics, and integration with other tools, directly contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of data processing. The role is essential for advancing the capabilities of the database system and ensuring a seamless user experience.

3. Responsibilities:

• Improve and maintain the functionality of the query engine

• Design, implement, and test new features related to query performance and language enhancements

• Develop diagnostics for query performance issues

• Integrate query engine features with other products and tools

• Collaborate with engineers to manage changes in a complex code base

• Coordinate with teams across client drivers, cloud services, tools, support, consulting, education, and marketing

4. Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years experience in data-intensive environments

• Proven ability to build industrial-strength software

• Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and software design

• Experience working with large code bases

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Database system development experience is advantageous

• Interest or experience in database query engine theory and practice is a plus

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The base salary range for this role in the U.S. is $106,000—$209,000 USD
