Senior Software Engineer (React Native)

2. About the Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer (React Native) will design, develop, and maintain critical features of the organization’s React Native mobile application. This role involves solving complex technical challenges, guiding the technical direction from product conception to production, and mentoring other engineers. The position directly impacts the user experience for millions of customers by ensuring high-quality and performant mobile features.

3. Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex, performant, and accessible mobile features in React Native.

• Lead end-to-end technical delivery of features, including deployment and monitoring.

• Diagnose and resolve performance issues, optimize rendering, and manage app responsiveness.

• Propose and communicate architectural decisions and tradeoffs.

• Mentor software engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.

• Advocate and improve engineering best practices related to architecture, testing, accessibility, and deployment.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product goals into technical solutions.

• Participate in on-call rotation to assist with production incidents and reliability improvements.

4. Requirements:

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience with significant React Native production experience.

• Proven ability to deliver complex mobile features in a team setting.

• Experience with the full mobile development lifecycle including app store submissions and monitoring.

• Background in mobile apps supported by large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems.

• Expert proficiency in TypeScript and deep expertise in React Native, including performance optimization and native module integration.

• Experience with Expo, monorepo tooling (e.g., Yarn workspaces), Jest for testing, Maestro for end-to-end testing.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile, including Expo/EAS workflows.

• Understanding of mobile observability tools such as crash reporting and performance monitoring.

• Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience working in fully remote engineering organizations.

• Skilled at balancing deep technical work with collaborative planning.

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The typical salary range for this position is $175,000 to $185,000, determined based on role, level, location, skills, experience, and education.
