This organization operates in the cloud computing and data analytics industry, specializing in real-time analytics, data warehousing, observability, and AI workloads. It addresses the challenge of processing massive datasets efficiently by providing a high-performance database platform used by over 3,000 customers worldwide. The company has demonstrated rapid growth with annual recurring revenue increasing over 250 percent year over year, supported by a recent $400M Series D financing round. Its customer base includes prominent global brands and AI innovators, reflecting its significant impact and reach in the data ecosystem.
2. About the Opportunity:
The Senior Software Engineer - Python and Data Ecosystem will own and develop key Python integrations that connect the organization’s database platform to the broader data ecosystem. This role bridges high-performance database engineering with developer tools, enabling Data Engineers and Data Scientists to leverage the platform’s capabilities within familiar frameworks. The position plays a critical role in shaping integrations for orchestration platforms, transformation tools, and AI/LLM workflows, directly influencing how data practitioners build next-generation AI and data systems.
3. Responsibilities:
• Own and improve the Python connector and SDK ecosystem, enhancing performance, reliability, and API design
• Build and maintain integrations with orchestration platforms (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and transformation tools (dbt) to enterprise standards
• Lead AI/LLM integration strategy, designing connectors for RAG architectures, ML feature pipelines, and LLM-powered data applications
• Engage with the open-source community by triaging issues, supporting contributors, advocating for users, and informing the roadmap
• Collaborate with Product, Cloud, and engineering teams to align integration projects with platform priorities
• Incorporate practical Data Engineer and Data Scientist experience to guide roadmap and prioritization decisions
4. Requirements:
• 7+ years of software development experience, preferably with hands-on background as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or ML Engineer
• Proven experience designing and maintaining production-grade Python connectors, SDKs, or integrations for major platforms (orchestration, BI, MLOps, or data transformation)
• Strong familiarity with the Python data ecosystem including Pandas, NumPy, and Pydantic
• Practical experience or contributions related to data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
• Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML workflows in data engineering contexts, including embedding generation, vector search, and feature pipelines
• Solid understanding of database fundamentals, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and OLAP/analytical databases
• Experience with concurrent Python programming: threading, multiprocessing, and async patterns
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to collaborate across teams and engage with open-source communities
Bonus points for:
• Experience deploying AI/ML models in production, including inference APIs and vector databases
• Prior product-facing or platform role experience as a Data Engineer or Data Scientist
• Familiarity with high-performance OLAP platforms similar to the organization’s technology
• Knowledge of the JVM ecosystem
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The typical starting salary for this role in the US is $141,000—$208,000 USD
• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors
