Senior Software Engineer, Clojure (US East Coast)

About the Opportunity:

The organization provides tools and systems that simplify app development, focusing on delivering excellent developer experiences for a global user base. The Developer Experience team builds and maintains backend systems that support crucial features for software supply chain security and reliability. This senior backend engineering role involves designing and developing distributed systems using Clojure and Go, mentoring engineers, and leading feature delivery initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs in Clojure and Go

• Lead small feature teams through planning, execution, and delivery

• Mentor engineers and share technical knowledge

• Make architectural decisions and contribute to long-term technical direction

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver complete solutions

• Improve observability, performance, and security of backend services

• Raise operational standards and participate in paid on-call rotation

• Promote clear communication, documentation, and technical excellence

Requirements:

• Experience building and operating backend systems in production

• Strong programming skills in Clojure and experience with Go or willingness to learn Go

• Experience designing and maintaining distributed systems or microservices

• Knowledge of cloud native systems (AWS or GCP), APIs, and data stores

• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding project delivery

• Excellent communication skills in a remote, async-first environment

• Ability to balance technical depth with business outcomes
