About the Opportunity

The Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Continuous Delivery) is a leadership-focused technical role. You will lead a team to achieve quarterly goals while navigating complex, open-ended challenges in system delivery. This position bridges the gap between high-level product strategy and technical execution, collaborating with product management, design, and analytics. You will be a key driver of operational reliability, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and talent development.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Own and deliver quarterly goals; guide engineers through ambiguity to solve complex backend problems.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, design, and analytics teams throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Operational Excellence: Support system availability by monitoring metrics and managing on-call efforts; advocate for project and technology improvements.
• Quality Mentorship: Promote high standards through rigorous code reviews and extensible design patterns; provide actionable feedback to develop team members.
• System Ownership: Take accountability for the reliability and performance of backend services and shared developer infrastructure.

Requirements

• Backend Expertise: 4+ years of experience designing and launching large-scale backend systems using Python or Kotlin.
• Infrastructure: Proven experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD Focus: Experience developing or improving CI/CD pipelines, release automation, or deployment systems.
• Platform Engineering: Comfort working on shared developer infrastructure and defining platform interfaces or templates.
• Technical Execution: Ability to manage large codebase changes safely using modern supporting tools and practices.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for effective collaboration with a global team.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation

• Base Pay (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $190,000 – $240,000 per year.
• Base Pay (Other U.S. States): $169,000 – $219,000 per year.
