About the Opportunity:
This role focuses on implementing and advocating for accessible development practices across web, Android, and iOS platforms. Responsibilities include writing accessible, standards-compliant code; conducting accessibility-focused code reviews; collaborating with design and QA to identify and fix accessibility defects; and mentoring engineering teams on accessibility implementation techniques for various platforms. The position also involves defining and advancing accessibility automation strategies, serving as a subject matter expert on accessibility standards and APIs, and contributing to engineering standards and testing infrastructure to embed accessibility into the development lifecycle. Additionally, the role includes designing and building back-end services for data-centric clinical and analytic applications that leverage cloud computing, big data, and machine learning technologies.
Responsibilities:
• Implement accessible development practices across web, Android, and iOS platforms
• Write accessible, standards-compliant code
• Conduct code reviews with an accessibility focus
• Partner with design and QA to remediate accessibility defects
• Mentor engineering team members on accessibility techniques for HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose
• Define and mature accessibility automation strategies including linting rules, CI/CD integration, automated testing, and regression monitoring
• Serve as a technical expert on WCAG conformance, assistive technology compatibility, and platform-specific accessibility APIs
• Contribute to engineering standards, design systems, and testing infrastructure embedding accessibility
• Design and build back-end services supporting data-centric clinical and analytic applications
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Architects to translate requirements into code
• Develop services related to data warehousing, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning
• Participate in DevOps, Agile, continuous development, and integration frameworks
• Code in high-level languages such as Go, Python, Java
• Create and maintain documentation of processes and source code
• Communicate effectively with peers, leaders, and customers
• Perform expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Contribute to design and architecture discussions
• Lead cross-functional improvement efforts and mentor junior engineers
• Solve complex problems and approach solutions from new perspectives
• Work independently with minimal guidance, leading projects or project steps
• Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, or Associate’s degree with 7 years of experience
• In-depth knowledge of software engineering and experience coding applications or services in high-level languages such as C, C++, Golang, Java, or C#
• Strong problem solving and time management skills
• Technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions
• Experience with modern application development frameworks
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and full software development lifecycle best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Agile software development techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• Experience with a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services
• Experience writing software for cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems, or business intelligence products
• Experience building high-performance, highly available, and scalable distributed systems
• Experience developing software for healthcare-related industries
