2. About the Opportunity:
The Senior Data Scientist, Platform (Algorithms/Trust) role is focused on enhancing the safety, trust, and quality of user experiences by advancing content understanding capabilities. This position drives the development of next-generation Trust Content Understanding Models that interpret and act on user-generated content to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. The role contributes directly to maintaining a trustworthy platform by building and deploying AI and machine learning models that detect and manage problematic content, optimizing system effectiveness, and shaping long-term AI strategies for content integrity.
3. Responsibilities:
• Build and deploy production AI/ML systems for content integrity, including NLP and LLM-based models
• Develop models for detecting problematic or misleading content through text classification, semantic similarity, and generative reasoning
• Design and optimize human-in-the-loop ML workflows for content review, labeling, escalation, and continuous improvement
• Detect emerging content risks and abuse patterns using statistical, ML, and representation-learning methods
• Create sampling and evaluation strategies to measure rare events, policy recall, and model blind spots
• Collaborate with inference data scientists to conduct causal inference analyses and assess impact
• Analyze tradeoffs between enforcement accuracy, user experience, cost, and coverage to optimize systems
• Deliver clear research reports with data visualizations and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Contribute to defining the long-term AI-driven content understanding vision within the Trust ecosystem
4. Requirements:
• 5+ years of industry experience in quantitative analysis with a Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or 2+ years with a Ph.D.
• Expertise in AI/ML models
• Hands-on experience with NLP and LLM-based solutions, including text classification and generative applications
• Working knowledge of causal inference
• Proficiency in statistical programming (Python or R) and SQL
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to translate complex findings into impactful narratives
• Excellent project management and collaboration skills
• Experience in Trust & Safety is a plus
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
