About the Opportunity
The Senior Data / Analytics Engineer is a key role within the Tech & Data team, reporting to the Director of Tech & Data. This position involves modernizing and scaling the data architecture across various functions including marketing, operations, finance, sales, and clinical systems. The role is critical for establishing standards, improving data practices, and building a healthcare data platform designed for long-term scalability and AI integration, supporting the organization's evolving data needs.
Responsibilities
- Data Architecture and Strategy: Design and implement scalable data architecture within Google BigQuery. Reorganize fragmented data into standardized, maintainable models. Establish naming conventions, modeling standards, data lineage, and governance frameworks. Separate and structure sensitive and non-sensitive data in strict compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Collaborate with leadership to define long-term data warehouse and transformation strategies.
- Transformation and Modeling: Own and expand dbt transformation layers and modeling practices. Build clean, scalable transformation pipelines and core business logic layers. Create reliable datasets for analytics, reporting, operations, and future AI initiatives. Standardize KPI logic across the enterprise and actively reduce duplicated transformations.
- Data Quality and Governance: Develop testing, QA, and documentation standards for data models and pipelines. Enhance overall data quality, observability, and infrastructure reliability.
- Pipeline and Tool Optimization: Build, maintain, and optimize automated data ingestion and transformation pipelines. Work daily with modern data stack platforms including Google BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Portable, Improvado, HubSpot, Tableau, and Google Cloud Platform. Troubleshoot core pipeline or integration issues and improve continuous monitoring and operational stability.
- AI Readiness and Cross-Functional Support: Support AI infrastructure readiness by developing AI-ready datasets and systems for future AI-enabled workflows. Collaborate cross-functionally with data analysts, marketing, operations, finance, and technology teams. Support analysts directly by improving foundational data models and reducing everyday data engineering burdens.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: 5-8+ years of progressive experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or modern data stack environments.
- Technical Stack Expertise: Deep experience with Google BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses. Hands-on experience with dbt and modern cloud-based ETL workflows.
- Engineering Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL and warehouse-based data transformation workflows. Proficiency in SFTP-based file transfer workflows, including key-based authentication methods and operational error handling.
- System and Data Modeling: Experience designing scalable data models, structured transformation layers, and building production-grade data pipelines. Experience working with complex operational and business systems data.
- Quality and Governance: Strong practical knowledge of data governance, system documentation, automated testing, and QA practices.
- Operational Delivery: Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment. Demonstrated ability to balance long-term architecture improvements with immediate, short-term operational business needs.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation
- Base Salary: $150,000 annually, depending on experience.
- Bonuses: Position is eligible for additional bonus incentives.
