About the Opportunity:
The organization is a global entity focused on building and advancing technology for digital and streaming media products. This team develops and maintains software and systems supporting media content preparation, processing, and playback, ensuring scalable workflows and optimal user experiences. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and maintain media playback solutions for Roku, collaborating with other platform teams to enable consistent, high-quality streaming across all consumer brands.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement solutions for new features integrating with various media services and back-ends.
• Collaborate and design APIs with peer services and front-end teams.
• Conduct research and development for media playback experiences, integration, and testing.
• Participate in project planning and team operations.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills.
• At least 2 years of experience building Roku apps using Brightscript.
• Proven experience at senior and lead software engineering levels.
• Experience working with Video Playback technologies such as MSE/EME, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Transport Stream, CMAF (preferred).
Compensation:
• The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA and Glendale, CA is $152,200 to $204,100 per year, in Seattle, WA and New York, NY is $159,500 to $213,900 per year, and in San Francisco, CA is $166,800 to $223,600 per year.
• The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
• A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
