Principal Software Engineer

About the Opportunity:

This organization is a financial technology company focused on empowering small businesses by providing access to capital through an advanced fintech platform. The opportunity is for a Principal Engineer to drive architectural vision, technical leadership, and execution for the next phase of the organization’s growth.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and lead the implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient core platforms.

• Set technical direction and ensure high standards for code quality, design patterns, and operational excellence.

• Lead planning and execution of cross-functional initiatives involving multiple engineering teams and business domains.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on the software ecosystem, promoting technical best practices and addressing technical debt and incidents.

• Mentor engineering team members and foster a culture of ownership and continuous learning.

• Engage across multiple teams to ensure systems are highly resilient and observable.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship.

• Deep expertise in designing and implementing complex, distributed backend systems and scalable architectures (Golang, Python, Ruby, etc).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to influence others effectively.

• Demonstrated passion for learning and self-development.

• Experience in agile software development.

• Understanding of front-end architecture or full-stack perspective, with knowledge of how backend services impact the end-user experience.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent relevant experience.

Compensation:

• Annual Targeted Salary: $200,000 - $230,000 USD

• Annual Target Bonus: 15%

• Final offers are determined by a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and internal equity.
