About the Opportunity
The Data Engineer designs, develops, and deploys scalable data systems that support business objectives. This role works closely with leadership, engineers, underwriters, actuaries, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions that improve workflows, reporting, and data management.
The position plays an important role in advancing the organization’s data capabilities, strengthening governance, and enabling scalable growth.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with leadership, engineers, underwriters, actuaries, and other stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements
• Design and implement scalable modern data stacks for applications, analytics, and reporting
• Develop conceptual and logical data models that support business workflows and organizational functions
• Architect and maintain data pipelines across multiple platforms
• Establish data governance structures to maintain data integrity and support business objectives
• Define data security, backup, and data protection procedures
• Communicate technical concepts and data solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Promote data-driven decision-making and best practices across the organization
• Partner with senior data leadership to improve technology, architecture, and engineering practices
Requirements
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering, including complex data system design and management
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable engineering solutions
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Expertise in data modeling, ELT processes, and data warehousing
• Understanding of data security and user data privacy regulations
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Pay Range and Compensation Package
• Base salary range of $100,000 to $170,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant factors
• Eligibility to participate in the organization’s equity incentive plan
