2. About the Opportunity:
The Data Scientist, Data Science role is part of the Core Data Science team responsible for the statistical foundations of the product line. This position ensures the statistical rigor and validity of key features, develops new analytical techniques, and promotes data-driven decision making across product development. The role involves collaborating closely with engineering, design, and product teams to research feature design, provide technical guidance, contribute to product decisions, and maintain metrics and tools that enable the team to leverage data effectively.
3. Responsibilities:
• Ensure the statistical rigor and validity of products
• Develop new techniques that add user value
• Advocate for technically-sophisticated perspectives in product development
• Promote improved data-driven decision making across products
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and product teams
• Conduct research on feature design for statistical guarantees and performance
• Advise engineers on implementation and contribute to production code as needed
• Support design and product teams in project scoping and technical discussions
• Maintain and improve team metrics, queries, and data accessibility tools
4. Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience
• Master’s or PhD in Statistics or related field, or 3+ years of experience in online experimentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Pragmatic, iterative engineering approach focused on incremental progress and continuous delivery
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC, Boston, Seattle): $121,800 - $167,530
• Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $109,700 - $150,810
• Zone 3 (All other US locations): $103,600 - $142,450
• Compensation includes salary, restricted stock units, health, vision, dental insurance, and mental health benefits. Exact pay varies by skills, experience, and location.
