About the Opportunity:
The organization is a pre-IPO technology startup focused on radically simplifying car ownership through artificial intelligence and machine learning. The Applied Data Scientist role is responsible for ensuring data quality, reliability, and accuracy, supporting the development and deployment of models that drive key business decisions related to car ownership, maintenance, and insurance.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the full modeling lifecycle, including statistical analysis, experimentation, building, validating, and iterating on machine learning models
• Prepare, clean, and transform raw data into high-quality features for modeling
• Identify and resolve missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies in data
• Investigate data discrepancies and design automated frameworks to ensure data accuracy
• Collaborate with data engineering and product teams to define and maintain a centralized feature store
• Create and maintain documentation for data sources, cleaning processes, and variable definitions
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics
• Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas/NumPy) and SQL for data manipulation
• Hands-on experience with data cleaning techniques and data validation frameworks
• Familiarity with data visualization tools for identifying and communicating data issues

Compensation:
• The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed on this job posting, determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
• In addition to base salary, the compensation may include opportunities for equity grants.
