Data Scientist (ML & GenAI)- Remote Contract | Spain, Portugal or Sweden
We're hiring a Data Scientist with a strong ML background and a genuine interest in GenAI to join a global engineering team working on two really interesting internal products.
This is a mid-level role with a July start, running through to September with a high likelihood of extension beyond that. You'll be embedded across both projects, working alongside existing data scientists and contributing to real, production-grade solutions — not just keeping things at PoC stage.
The Projects
The first is a field service scheduling platform — a live, actively developed tool that manages when engineers need to go on-site for maintenance. There's a working live schedule already in place and the team are continuing to build and iterate on it.
The second is a GenAI-powered chatbot that's moving in a more ambitious direction — the team are rebuilding the UI and evolving the product significantly. It's earlier stage, which means more room to shape the direction, with some genuinely interesting GenAI concepts in play.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting both projects as an embedded Data Scientist, working closely with the existing science team
- Developing and deploying ML models including predictive, prescriptive, and generative AI solutions
- Integrating LLMs and GenAI capabilities into analytical workflows and production systems
- Building and maintaining ETL pipelines on AWS
- Analysing complex datasets to surface patterns and insights that drive real decisions
- Designing experiments, performing statistical analysis, and validating model performance
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into working data science solutions
- Building with production in mind — this team needs someone who can deploy and manage systems, not just experiment
What We're Looking For
- Strong ML and data science fundamentals — statistical modelling, supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, hypothesis testing
- Hands-on GenAI experience — LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG concepts
- Solid Python and SQL skills — these are non-negotiable
- ETL pipeline experience, ideally on AWS
- Some software engineering background — you're comfortable deploying things and managing systems in a production environment
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Familiarity with MLOps best practices, Docker, Git, and Jupyter
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with less day-to-day direction
- Based in Spain, Portugal, or Sweden
Nice to Have
- Experience with data visualisation tools — matplotlib, seaborn, plotly
- Knowledge of knowledge graphs and data connectivity
- Familiarity with AWS CDK or similar IaC tooling
- Experience working within large enterprise or industrial environments
The Details
- Fully remote — B2B contract
- Start date: beginning of July
- Initial contract through to September — high chance of extension
- Based in Spain, Portugal, or Sweden
