Data Scientist (AI Engineering)

We are supporting a leading energy technology organisation in its search for an experienced Freelance Data Scientist with strong AI Engineering capabilities to join a team building a data lakehouse for turbine and grid technology data.

This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role for a consultant who can work proactively with stakeholders and help shape the next generation of AI-driven analytics for energy asset data.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI and machine learning solutions on a modern data platform
• Build analytical models using statistical methods, machine learning and Generative AI
• Contribute to semantic and ontology layers to enable advanced analytics
• Work with Snowflake Cortex to develop AI-powered analytical capabilities
• Evaluate and contribute to emerging AI Agent use cases
• Integrate AI solutions through APIs and cloud-based architectures
• Own deliverables from design through implementation

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Scientist with exposure to AI Engineering
• Solid grounding in statistical methods, machine learning and Generative AI
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Snowflake, ideally including Snowflake Cortex
• Understanding of data architecture, APIs and cloud-native solutions
• Experience with semantic models or ontology-based analytics advantageous
• Exposure to AI Agents a plus
• MLOps expertise not required
