Position Overview

The Data Scientist provides analytical and technical support to ReefPoint Group’s work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) within the Office of Information and Technology (OIT).

The Data Scientist works across cross-functional teams and government stakeholders to translate key analytic questions into structured data solutions, including curated datasets, data objects, and analytic products. The role supports the implementation of data pipelines, development of dashboards and visualizations, and execution of analyses that inform operational decision-making and enterprise reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage the Palantir Foundry platform and PySpark to develop full data science lifecycle solutions aligned to program objectives.
• Support data engineering activities, including the development of robust, scalable pipelines and reusable data products that enable consistent and repeatable analytics
• Develop dashboards, visualizations, and analytic outputs to communicate insights and support enterprise reporting and decision-making.
• Document data, methodologies, and assumptions to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and alignment with governance standards.
• Participate in customer engagements, translating key analytic questions KAQs into technical approaches and deliverables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and technical leads to deliver integrated solutions aligned to broader program priorities.
• Develop domain understanding of VA data, systems, and mission needs to inform analytic approaches and improve solution relevance.
• Provide guidance to junior analysts and contribute to team best practices and continuous improvement of data and analytics processes.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 4–6 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles.
• Proficiency in Python (including PySpark) and strong working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Experience working with Palantir Foundry or similar data integration and analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, AWS/GCP data platforms), including developing data pipelines, curated datasets, or analytic workflows.
• Experience working with complex, multi-source datasets, including data cleaning, transformation, and integration.
• Experience developing data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or platform-native capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in collaborative, client-facing environments.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
