Research Engineer, Special Projects
AI meets architecture. Reinvent how homes are designed.
Our client is a well-funded, remote-first startup on a mission to reimagine how homes are designed and built in the U.S. Backed by $53M in Series B funding and supported by top-tier VCs and industry leaders, they’re building the platform that automates architectural design and construction planning at scale.
They’re now hiring a Research Engineer for their Special Projects team — an elite group applying cutting-edge AI (LLMs, RAG, CV) to radically modernize homebuilding.
What you’ll do
- Build AI-driven tools that automate architecture, code compliance, and construction docs
- Apply LLMs, computer vision, and RAG to interpret and optimize residential plans
- Develop full-stack apps in React + TypeScript for AI-assisted design workflows
- Integrate tools like Cursor, Claude, and O1 Pro into platform
- Lead technical decision-making and experimentation within a fast-moving R&D team
- Stay ahead of AI trends in construction automation and innovation
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience building complex web apps using React and TypeScript
- Strong background in AI systems: LLMs, CV, and RAG architecture
- Excited by construction tech, home design, or BIM (bonus if you’ve worked with Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Experience with 3D modeling, computational geometry, or Three.js is a plus
- Strong problem-solver with a passion for turning research into real-world product impact
Why join?
Remote-first, flexible, and offers top-tier benefits, competitive pay, and meaningful equity. You’ll work alongside a creative, product-minded team (ex-Apple, Autodesk, Nike) to redefine how homes are imagined — and actually built.
