Our client Islam Net is looking for a Email Marketing Copywriter for Fundraising in REMOTE
Islam Net is a Norway-based Islamic nonprofit working to establish mosques and Islamic centres, produce dawah and educational content, and help Muslims strengthen their iman. We communicate with an established international audience and have extensive experience with online fundraising and donor communication.
We are seeking a full-time Email Marketing & Fundraising Copywriter to take ownership of our regular email campaigns and contribute across our broader fundraising and performance-marketing work.
Email will be a central and ongoing part of the role, including frequent campaign production and donor communication. The position also includes work on fundraising video scripts, landing pages, donation funnels, campaign concepts and broader messaging. We are therefore looking for a versatile direct-response copywriter.
This is not simply a newsletter-writing position. The successful candidate will plan and write complete fundraising campaigns and donor communication sequences, develop distinct campaign angles, adapt messaging for different audiences and stages of the donor journey, and use campaign data to improve future work.
The role requires excellent written English, strong direct-response and fundraising copywriting ability, and at least three years of relevant experience. Applicants should have a portfolio demonstrating persuasive, action-oriented writing and experience with complete email campaigns or sequences rather than only blogs, social-media posts or isolated newsletters.
Strong independent judgment is essential. We encourage responsible use of AI for research, ideation, drafting, iteration and efficiency, but the successful candidate must be able to assess whether copy is strategically effective, identify weak or generic output, substantially improve drafts, and explain important copy decisions. AI must remain only a tool rather than a substitute for copywriting ability.
The candidate should understand campaign strategy and be comfortable working with segmentation, testing, automation, analytics, list health and email best practices. Technical implementation may be completed in collaboration with other team members, but the copywriter should understand how these areas affect campaign performance.
Because we communicate primarily with practicing Muslims, the candidate must be comfortable working respectfully and accurately with Islamic themes and terminology. They should understand the responsibility involved in working for an Islamic organization and working with fundraising communication, and they must be able to write with sincerity and emotional intelligence.
This is a full-time, long-term remote position working with colleagues in Pakistan and the leadership team in Norway. It requires reliable execution, independence, strong collaboration and the ability to deliver quickly during active campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the organization’s regular email campaigns and maintain a reliable campaign calendar.
- Plan and write complete fundraising campaigns, donor communication sequences, newsletters, project updates, follow-up emails and relationship-building content.
- Develop distinct campaign angles, stories, subject lines, preheaders, openings, calls to action and message structures rather than repeatedly rewriting the same appeal.
- Write persuasive and responsible fundraising copy adapted to different projects, audiences, donor segments and stages of the donor journey.
- Maintain consistent quality and meet firm deadlines during periods when campaign emails may be produced frequently or daily.
- Write copy for social media advertisements, including hooks, primary text, headlines, descriptions and calls to action.
- Develop fundraising video concepts and scripts suited to speakers, presenters, campaign objectives and different stages of the donor journey.
- Write and improve landing-page, donation-page and funnel copy, including headlines, offers, objections, proof, calls to action, upsells, downsells and follow-up messaging.
- Develop broader campaign messaging by identifying audiences, motivations, objections, emotional angles, value propositions and conversion opportunities.
- Adapt and repurpose strong campaign ideas across email, paid advertising, video, landing pages and other relevant channels while ensuring that each format is written appropriately for its context.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop genuinely different creative concepts, campaign angles and controlled variants for testing.
- Use segmentation and targeting to make communications more relevant to different subscriber and donor groups.
- Develop and conduct meaningful tests involving subject lines, openings, hooks, campaign angles, calls to action, email structure, timing, offers and other significant variables.
- Analyze performance data from emails, advertisements and landing pages using relevant measures such as opens, clicks, landing-page activity, donations, conversion rates, unsubscribes, complaints, click-through rates and cost per conversion.
- Translate campaign results into practical recommendations for future messaging, creative concepts, segmentation, offers and campaign strategy.
- Identify which hooks, angles, messages and offers should be retained, combined, revised, expanded or discontinued.
- Help turn successful advertisements and campaigns into larger creative families with new hooks, formats, situations, audiences and messages.
- Work with technical colleagues on campaign scheduling, automation, quality assurance, list health, deliverability, tracking and relevant email best practices.
- Ensure that email, advertising, video and landing-page messaging are aligned throughout the campaign and conversion journey.
- Use AI tools responsibly to improve research, ideation, iteration, editing and production efficiency while independently reviewing and improving all final copy.
- Identify generic, inaccurate, weak or unconvincing AI-assisted content and replace it with stronger work based on genuine audience understanding and copywriting judgment.
- Explain and defend the reasoning behind campaign angles, copy structure, tone, subject lines, hooks, offers and calls to action when reviewing work with the team.
- Research relevant developments in fundraising, direct-response copywriting, email marketing, paid advertising and donor communication, and recommend practical improvements.
