Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for our client to help shape their technical roadmap, architect holistic solutions, and lead full-cycle development efforts for their platform. Reporting to the COO, this role combines strategic guidance, hands-on coding, and team leadership. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure our technology stack remains robust, secure, and aligned with the broader vision of delivering groundbreaking hormone health solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Strategy & Architecture

• Collaborate with the COO and other leadership members to define the technical vision and execution strategy for client's telehealth, e-commerce, and AI capabilities.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-availability microservices to support member and provider experience.
• Ensure architecture decisions align with business imperatives: clinical excellence, user satisfaction, and global scalability.

2. Hands-On Development & Code Quality

• Write high-quality, maintainable code using modern best practices (TypeScript, Node.js, React, etc.).
• Drive the establishment of DevOps pipelines (CI/CD), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and automated testing frameworks.
• Perform regular code reviews, enforce coding standards, and lead refactoring initiatives for performance and reliability.

3. Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Lead and mentor a growing team of software engineers, offering guidance on architecture, best practices, and career development.
• Foster an Agile culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and iterative product delivery.
• Oversee hiring needs and onboard new team members, ensuring the engineering org scales effectively and sustainably.

4. Cross-functional collaboration

• Partner with Product, Clinical, Ops, and Data teams to transform business requirements into actionable technical tasks.
• Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, providing clarity on project scope, timelines, and trade-offs.
• Represent Engineering in executive-level meetings, advocating for best practices in technology and security.

5. Security, Compliance & Performance

• Implement HIPAA/GDPR compliance measures and security protocols at every layer of development.
• Monitor system performance, scalability, and fault tolerance, proactively optimizing for growth and usage spikes.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies (AI/ML, microservices, cloud services) for potential platform enhancements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior or principal role.

Technical Skills

• Proven expertise in TypeScript/Node.js, React, microservices, and cloud-native development.
• Experience with DevOps (Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines) and architecting scalable back-end systems.
• Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, data pipelines, or real-time analytics is a plus.

Leadership & Communication

• Demonstrable history of leading and mentoring software teams toward high-quality, timely deliveries.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the flexibility to adapt to a fast-evolving environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication—capable of bridging technical and executive discussions.

Healthcare/Regulatory (Nice to Have)

• Understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, or other healthcare regulations impacting data security and compliance.
