What will you be doing?
About the role Lighthouse Magazine is seeking a volunteer Social Media Manager to help amplify our presence online and connect with audiences who care about Ukraine, human rights, culture, and storytelling. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to support a meaningful mission, gain experience in media, or switch into a communications-related field. Key responsibilities Increase Lighthouse’s visibility across social media platforms Share links and highlights from newly published articles (1–2 posts per week) Create and maintain recurring content formats or rubrics Collaborate closely with the graphic designer and editor-in-chief Engage with the team to spot timely topics or news hooks Optional Publish Stories or videos on Instagram What we’re looking for Strong experience of how social media works and what engages people Good communication skills and copywriting ability Visual sense and appreciation for aesthetics in content Awareness of the context in and around Ukraine — no need to be an expert, just curious and open Conversational Ukrainian is not required — the editor-in-chief is happy to assist with language and context Ability to work independently and take initiative Comfortable working 4–5 hours per week on a flexible, remote basis About us Lighthouse Magazine is an independent online journal launched in August 2024, currently publishing in English and Ukrainian on Substack. We aim to share powerful stories that highlight unheard voices, fight misinformation, celebrate Ukrainian culture beyond clichés, and support people affected by war and displacement.
