Job Description
RCH Solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with experience in deploying and managing AWS cloud infrastructure in the Life Sciences space. As part of the RCH Cloud Engineering team, you will work on the most complex customer challenges and opportunities, collaborating with customers, RCH Solutions Architects, and partners to deliver our suite of solutions. This role will execute of projects in collaboration with RCH Solutions Architects and RCH Service Delivery Managers to establish and operate cloud IT infrastructure services in line with industry best practices for customers. The cloud landscape is continuously evolving, with new tools and services being released daily. You will distinguish hype from reality and make recommendations that best suit our clients’ needs across multiple cloud providers.
RCH Cloud Engineers will implement scoped solutions and act as an escalation point for junior team members; they will drive the hands-on implementation and deployment of solutions and troubleshooting efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate and possibility present different solution and technology options, while articulating short and long-term consequences, impact and outcomes on business.
- Design, implement, and deploy solutions.
- Guide clients on establishing and adhering to industry best practices.
- Review and audit existing cloud solutions, designs and system architectures while creating architecture documentation & presentations.
- Serve as an escalation point for questions and issues of RCH support team members.
- Troubleshoot escalated operational issues as they arise on supported platforms.
- Work with Project Manager to ensure timelines are met and deliverables are in line with project scope.
- Ensure that all systems are compliant with company security standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Remain current on Cloud services, offerings, and best practices.
- Deploy and configure scientific applications, both COTS and Opensource.
- Provide expert level Linux engineering and support as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of professional experience in Cloud Infrastructure Deployment
- Expert within solutions developed in large cloud computing infrastructures such as Amazon Web Services, Azure Cloud, or Google Cloud
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification
- 5+ years of Linux engineering experience (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky)
- 2+ years of Application administration
- Experience creating proof of concepts / demonstrations from scratch.
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications, etc.
- Expert troubleshooting & problems analysis skills
- Experience deploying and managing clusters via AWS Parallel Cluster
- Experience supporting and managing Slurm clusters or other DRM solutions
- Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, Terraform, and CFN
- Excellent communication skills, including preparation of written documentation for IT colleagues and data science end users
- Experience leading project teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Has good knowledge of deploying or supporting GxP systems
- Experience supporting and managing Slurm clusters or other DRM solutions.
- Python, R, or other related data science programming language
- Experience using shell scripting, automation tools, and configuration management
- Git, BitBucket, or other version control tools
