Senior Civil Engineer
Location: Various Locations (Hybrid / Remote)
The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for overseeing civil engineering projects from start to finish, including preparing project-related documents, participating in field services, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, team player, and experienced in managing and mentoring less experienced staff.
Job Requirements
- Highly experienced with Civil Engineering design tasks such as planning, site layout, pavement design, grading design, drainage design, water distribution design, sewer collection design, road design, erosion and sediment control design, stormwater management design and hydrology studies, etc.
- Self-starter, motivated, team player, honest, trustworthy, track record of continued learning and capable of being productive with limited supervision.
- Experience and comfortable training, coaching, and mentoring less experienced staff.
- Experienced directing, training and managing others to perform civil engineering design and plan production using Autodesk Civil 3D, specification writing, technical report writing and construction observation work.
- Ability to learn federal UFC, DOD and VA criteria or prior experience with these documents.
- Experience observing construction, reviewing engineering design work and providing technical engineering written documents to clients.
- Experienced with procuring services of geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, traffic engineers, surveyors, arborists, and landscape architects and managing their quality, schedule and budget.
- Excellent skills and experience communicating (verbally and in writing) with regulatory agencies, architects, structural engineers, surveyors, environmental engineers, geotechnical engineers, and other project team members.
- Experience and confidence making oral engineering and project presentations.
- Experience in generating project fees, leading large project teams, and interfacing with multidisciplinary project groups.
- Experience managing team workloads and project budgets.
- Ability to obtain new clients and track record of bringing new clients to a firm.
- Education (one of the following):
- Graduate of an ABET/EAC-Accredited four-year engineering program with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Graduate of equivalent non-American four-year degree program, subject to review.
- Experience:
- 15+ Years of experience with completion of ABET/EAC-Accredited four-year bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in civil engineering.
- 18+ Years of experience with ABET/EAC-Accredited four-year bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- 20+ Years of experience (minimum of 2 in the USA) with completion of a non-American four-year degree program and fluency in English language speaking and writing.
- Ability to travel. Ability to attend local client or company meetings with one’s own transportation.
- Credentials:
- Passed the FE exam administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
- Passed the PE exam administered by the NCEES.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the United States.
- Active and up-to-date record with NCEES.
- Able to produce a list of at least 18 courses or books one has read on communication, management, leadership of people, and business.
