Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails, Django)
Compensation: $150,000–$210,000 + Competitive Equity
AI-Native A/R & Payments Platform for B2B Distribution
Remote (US) — Quarterly Off-sites in Austin, TX
About the Role:
The $1 trillion U.S. distribution industry still runs on spreadsheets, sticky notes, and manual collections processes. This company is building the AI-native operating system to replace all of it — automating everything from credit applications to cash collection through intelligent agents that think and act across the entire revenue cycle.
They're an early team of A+ engineers growing 2x right now, and they're looking for one of their first senior backend hires. There are no PMs writing specs for you here. You'll own product end-to-end, from customer signal through spec, ship, and measurement. AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, agentic workflows) are part of the daily flow, not a side experiment. The team invests more in clarity — specs, decompositions, conventions — than in process overhead.
This is a high-stakes technical role: you'll architect high-volume payment systems, integrate with complex ERP environments, and build LLM-powered workflows that process millions of dollars in transactions every day. If you want real ownership, a fast-moving team, and a market-sized problem, this is it.
What You'll Do
- Architect and build the backend systems powering high-volume ACH, credit card, and cash payment processing across the B2B distribution sector
- Own product areas end-to-end — from talking to customers and writing specs to shipping and measuring impact
- Build and deploy production-level agentic AI features, including eval systems, A/B tests, and multi-arm bandit frameworks
- Integrate with complex ERP systems used by distributors to manage their full revenue cycle
- Leverage LLM technology to automate collections, credit workflows, and revenue operations at scale
- Work in a high-iteration environment where clarity and shipping velocity are the operating principles
Why This Seat
- One of the first backend engineers on the team — your architectural decisions will define how the platform scales
- No PM layer — you own the product end-to-end with direct input from customers and leadership
- Company growing 2x with a clear path to capturing a massive, underserved market
- AI-native culture — Cursor, Claude Code, and agentic workflows are everyday tools, not aspirational
- $150K–$210K base with flex for exceptional candidates, plus competitive equity
- Fully remote with quarterly off-sites to connect in person in Austin
You'll Thrive Here If You
- Have 4+ years of experience as a backend or backend-leaning full-stack engineer
- Have shipped production systems and user-facing features end-to-end within the last 1–2 years — recent, proven output is key
- Are proficient in an MVC backend framework — Ruby on Rails, Django, or Spring Boot
- Have deep SQL/PostgreSQL experience and understand how to design for high-volume transactional systems
- Actively use AI tooling in your day-to-day workflow — this isn't optional here
- Have experience at a VC-backed startup with fast iteration cycles and high ownership
- Have built production-level agentic AI features including evals, A/B tests, or similar measurement systems
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in fintech, payments, billing, or collections systems
