About the company
Our client is a venture-backed AI company rebuilding mortgage software for the first time in two decades. Their AI-native loan origination platform already powers more than $85B in home loans and has product-market fit with major lenders, in a market worth $16B and up. They have raised $44M, run fully remote, and keep the team small and senior: roughly half of engineering are former startup CTOs. The product is AI-native from day one, automating tedious loan work to raise quality and unlock serious efficiency.
The role
This is a high-ownership seat on a small, elite design team. You will own design end-to-end for core product areas, working directly in the codebase alongside Figma to reimagine one of the sleepiest corners of financial services.
What you'll do
• Own entire feature areas end-to-end, from discovery and Figma design through prototyping in local dev environments, with designs moving from Figma to code the same day.
• Design complex, data-dense UIs and multi-step automation workflows for AI-native mortgage tooling, including agentic flows, streaming content, and probabilistic outputs.
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and client-side users to gather requirements and validate concepts through rapid iteration.
• Contribute to the migration to a new component system (ShadCN) and maintain scalable design system assets.
• Partner closely with engineering and product in weekly design critiques to ship features with real user impact.
What we're looking for
• 5 or more years of end-to-end product design for complex SaaS tools (7 preferred).
• Startup or small-team experience shipping real products. Big Tech is fine only if paired with startup experience. No pure Big Tech or pure agency backgrounds.
• A portfolio of detailed, real case studies showing enterprise systems, data-dense UIs, or multi-step workflows, with clear problem-to-outcome storytelling and measured impact.
• Actively works in or alongside code (vibe coding, opening PRs, prototyping in local dev environments), not just Figma-to-handoff.
• Deep Figma proficiency (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping) with a bias toward shipping fast over pixel-perfection.
• Based in the United States with the ability to travel domestically to client sites. No visa sponsorship.
Bonus points
• Experience as a founding or sole designer, or design lead, at an early-stage company.
• Fintech, lending, regulated industry, or document-heavy workflow experience.
• Experience designing AI-native UX (agentic flows, automation workflows, probabilistic outputs, streaming content).
• Strong visual-design polish and UI craft on top of solid end-to-end product design.
Compensation and benefits
• Base: $200K to $300K
• Equity: Competitive
• 100% of medical premiums covered for you and your family, plus vision and dental
• 401(k), HSA/FSA, and flexible time off
Location and work model
• Fully remote, United States
• Occasional domestic travel to client sites required
