Raochra is a sensemaking consultancy — we help founders and leaders close the “Clarity Gap” between what a project is assumed to need and what it actually needs, before strategic engagements begin. We're now building that diagnostic discipline into software, starting with Intent Check, an anonymous-by-design product that surfaces real misalignment without ever linking an answer to a person. Engineering here means production rigor as much as product craft: twelve-factor services, infrastructure as code, one deployable artifact promoted by digest, and privacy engineered into the architecture rather than bolted on.

Role Summary

Raochra is hiring a remote Senior Full Stack Engineer to help lead the build of Intent Check, our first platform app, and to set the patterns — auth, delivery, data, privacy — every app after it will inherit. Stack: Next.js/TypeScript on the front end, Node/Postgres on the back, deployed on AWS. This is a senior, high-trust role: you'll own architecture decisions as much as code, work directly with the founders with no layers of process in between, and be expected to spot the gaps — in the data model, in a security boundary, in an assumption no one wrote down — before they become production problems. A dynamic background spanning varied stacks, industries, or company sizes is a real asset: we need someone who orients fast on ambiguous, high-stakes problems rather than waiting for a fully-specified ticket.

Key Responsibilities

•    Design, build, and ship full-stack features end to end — database schema, backend APIs, and frontend UI — at a senior level of ownership and code quality

•    Make and document architecture decisions (ADRs) for the platform, not just individual features

•    Set and enforce engineering patterns — auth, data access, delivery, privacy — that every subsequent app on the platform reuses

•    Integrate third-party/bought services (identity, payments, email, analytics, LLM vendors) rather than building them in-house

•    Build and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs with clean, documented interfaces

•    Review code and mentor less experienced engineers as the team grows

•    Deploy and monitor applications on cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), with real ownership of production reliability

•    Work directly with founders to translate product and architecture decisions into working software under real deadlines

•    Debug and resolve production issues across the stack, including the ones with no obvious owner

•    Own privacy- and security-relevant design decisions — data retention, encryption, access boundaries — as first-class engineering work, not an afterthought

Required Skills & Experience

•    5+ years of professional full-stack development experience, including time spent owning architecture decisions, not just implementing tickets

•    Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with deep hands-on experience in a modern frontend framework (React or Next.js preferred)

•    Solid backend experience with Node.js (Express/Nest) and/or Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask), including designing services from scratch

•    Strong command of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) — schema design, query performance, migrations, and data integrity under concurrent load

•    Experience building and consuming REST APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a plus

•    Real production experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and DevOps fundamentals — CI/CD, containers (Docker), infrastructure as code, environment/secrets management

•    Version control fluency (Git) and experience setting code review and branching standards for a team, not just following them

•    A genuinely dynamic background: exposure to multiple domains, stacks, company sizes, or project types (agency, startup, freelance, or varied employer history all count)

•    Comfortable working fully remote and independently, owning ambiguous problems end to end, and communicating clearly with non-technical founders

•    Track record of making sound trade-off calls with limited information — and explaining the reasoning, not just the decision

Nice to Have

•    Experience integrating LLM/AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into production applications, including evals, prompt versioning, or guardrails

•    Familiarity with authentication/identity providers (e.g., WorkOS, Auth0, Clerk) and OAuth2 flows

•    Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and container-orchestrated deploys (ECS or similar)

•    Experience designing privacy-by-design systems — per-record encryption, data retention policies, least-privilege access

•    Prior experience as a technical lead, founding engineer, or first hire at an early-stage startup or consultancy

•    Basic design sensibility — comfortable shipping clean, usable UI without heavy hand-holding from a designer
