Position Summary:
Our partner, a growing full-service internet marketing optimization company that offers successful, top-tier, and impactful contributions in SEO, PPC, and Web Analytics, is seeking a highly experienced Director of Email Marketing to lead and optimize the organization’s email marketing strategy. This high-impact leadership position requires a data-driven marketer with deep expertise in lifecycle marketing, retention strategies, and driving revenue growth through email campaigns. The Director of Email Marketing will take full ownership of the company’s email marketing strategy and collaborate closely with the CMO, CRO, marketing, BI, sales, and product teams to execute high-performing email campaigns that drive measurable business results. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring the ability to make data-backed decisions while also optimizing campaign execution.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with a strong focus on email, lifecycle, and retention marketing.
- Proven expertise in subscription-based and e-commerce businesses, with a track record of driving engagement and retention.
- Leadership experience managing and mentoring marketing teams, with a focus on performance improvement.
- Experience in agency and vendor management to scale marketing efforts efficiently.
- Experience working with subscription-based, e-commerce, or media and content subscription services is a plus.
- Familiarity with modern email platforms and best practices for scaling creative output (e.g., DogDigital, SendGrid, Braze, Iterable, etc.)
- Experience with business optimization methodologies/frameworks (i.e. EOS, Agile, etc.) is a plus.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Own the full email marketing strategy, from acquisition to retention, and drive engagement, reduce churn, implement win-back campaigns, and increase customer lifetime value.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing email marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, data, and engineering, to align email marketing initiatives with business objectives.
- Audit existing email practices, identify gaps, and implement best-in-class strategies for optimization.
- Develop, execute, and sometimes help build automated email flows, segmentation, and personalization campaigns to deliver relevant and timely content.
- Research and leverage AI, predictive analytics, and behavioral triggers to deliver personalized, dynamic content that enhances customer engagement.
- Manage internal email marketing specialists, external agencies, and vendors to efficiently scale email marketing efforts.
- Own the email marketing budget, ensuring the highest ROI through optimization of spend.
- Provide regular reports and insights to C-Level teams, outlining campaign performance, testing insights, and revenue contribution.
