About Radical Candor
Radical Candor is a coherent management philosophy translated to practical, tactical things that leaders and their teams can do to kick ass at work without losing their humanity. Through keynotes, workshops, online classes, a Radical Candor AI coach, and a community we teach people how to solicit, give, gauge, and encourage feedback. Our products and services help teams get more done with less drama.
Rooted in the bestselling book, Radical Candor, our company is on a mission to improve how people work together. We transform workplace cultures by teaching leaders and teams how to care personally while challenging directly.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Director of Marketing to convince the world that Radical Candor is the definitive solution for team and manager effectiveness. We need a strategic leader who is also willing to be hands-on.
As an 11-person company with a 2-person marketing team, this role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution. You'll work directly with the executive team to build scalable systems that support our next phase of growth while managing the full-time and contract marketing staff.
What You'll Do
- You will own and execute the marketing roadmap, developing quarterly plans aligned with company OKRs and collaborating with sales and product teams. A core focus will be:
- Optimize our content channels to align with our target customers and drive qualified leads to sales. This includes our website, podcast, newsletter, and blog, and we're looking for your ideas on how to optimize, pivot, or create new opportunities.
- Drive renewals with retention campaigns and advocacy programs for our current and past clients.
- Build Community: Grow and build a community around the ideas of Radical Candor. You will partner with our product team on go-to-market strategies and help align product-market fit for this next stage of the company by giving every manager and their teams the tools to get more done with less drama.
- Steward the voice and core messaging to ensure clarity and resonance with our target audience. From this, build communication consistency across all channels.
- Develop the tools and processes necessary to systematically integrate the Radical Candor voice into channels, new product launches and company initiatives.
- Lead Content Strategy: Develop the editorial calendar and a content strategy that positions Radical Candor as the go-to place for advice on feedback specifically and more generally how to create a high performing team. Write and produce content along with the founder as well as contractors.
Who you are:
- You are a full-stack marketer who can craft integrated marketing plans centered around a marketing funnel. You have previous experience in:
- Managing content marketing and website optimization to drive traffic and lead generation.
- Executing multi-channel campaigns across email, social, and web.
- Building out tracking and measurement plans that can show your impact on revenue.
- You know how to test, understand what is working, and optimize quickly. Once you see what is working, you know how to optimize campaigns and conversions to scale what you built. You’re not hesitant to stop doing things that are not working, and to ask others to cease and desist too.
- You believe in building a small but mighty team and are passionate about creating a culture of feedback and trust. You know how to be scrappy and execute your campaigns in the short term with an eye on long-term scaling, identifying the critical resources you need to execute your strategy while working with leadership to build out longer-term plans.
- You are radically, compassionately candid. You care personally about your colleagues and therefore you challenge them directly–and are open to being challenged in turn. You speak truth to power. You don’t let disagreements fester. You know how to listen, challenge, and commit. You don’t front-stab or back-stab, and you don’t accept those behaviors from others.
Your Background:
- 7-10 years of B2B marketing experience with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Full-funnel marketing expertise spanning brand awareness, content marketing, demand generation, and revenue attribution.
- Strong content creation skills, including writing ability, basic design sensibility, and understanding of different content formats. You enjoy fast-paced editing cycles with a writer who obsesses over every word–and you’re willing to tell her when to stop.
- Marketing technology proficiency with tools like HubSpot, Google Analytics, social media management platforms, and email marketing systems.
