Position Description
We are seeking an analytical and strategic professional to play a pivotal role in shaping Pulmonx’s future growth. In this role you will collect data, conduct in-depth analysis, and drive a process to guide the organization’s strategic decisions. You will collaborate across multiple functions in the company to optimize investments in product development (hardware and software), geographic expansion, and partnerships to accelerate growth and improve patient access to our life-changing technologies.
This role offers a unique opportunity for someone with prior experience in consulting, equity research, marketing or corporate strategy to make significant contributions to the strategy and investment priorities of a publicly traded, high-growth medical technology company with a diverse portfolio of hardware and software products.
Responsibilities And Capabilities
- Geographic expansion: Own and execute a process for assessing, prioritizing, and planning entrance to new geographic markets.
- Assess adjacent markets and opportunities: Identify and evaluate growth opportunities in related markets (therapeutic areas, patient populations, technologies), analyzing market size, competition, and strategic fit to recommend potential expansion areas. Partner with regulatory and market access teams to inform opportunity assessment.
- Uncover and understand broad market needs and build plans to solve them: Investigate and define unmet needs of healthcare professionals in relevant markets and develop high-level proposals to meet those needs.
- Market research and modeling: Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative market research programs to gather the data needed to inform critical business decisions, partnering with product marketing, product management, and sales as needed. Build quantitative models to support strategic decision making.
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations for Product Management and R&D: Synthesize market research and opportunity assessments into clear insights for Product Management and R&D, influencing product roadmaps and innovation strategies to align with market needs.
- Pricing: Develop pricing plans for new products and optimize pricing of existing products.
- Business development and partnerships: Lead a process to assess and implement business development and partnership opportunities.
- Competitive Intelligence and Positioning: Continuously monitor the competitive landscape, including emerging players, regulatory changes, and technological advancements, to refine strategic positioning and differentiation.
- Process Optimization: Own, drive and document a collaborative process for strategic decision making across the organization.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of experience in a strategy, marketing, or research role, either in a healthcare company or an adjacent industry such as consulting or investment research.
- BS/BA in business or relevant area of study; MBA preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in market research methodologies (both qualitative and quantitative).
- Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and drawing meaningful conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex data and insights effectively to executive audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
- Ability to work independently and drive projects forward.
- Understanding of medical device and software product development lifecycles.
- Exceptionally collaborative attitude, and ability to interface with stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Expert in MS Office applications.
- This position requires up to 30% travel (international/domestic).
Compensation: Base salary of $160,000 - $185,000, depending upon experience.
