Senior Quality Engineering Software Engineer

ProSearch is seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Software Engineer who has both proven leadership experience and strong hands-on technical skills. This is not a purely strategic or oversight role. The right candidate will be expected to lead quality engineering efforts while also writing code, building automated tests, and actively participating in daily development workflows.

This role requires someone who has led QA initiatives or teams in the past and can take ownership of test automation strategy and execution within a Scrum/Agile environment.

Candidates must be based in the U.S. and located within driving distance to Maine (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Boston area, etc.) for occasional in-person meetings.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of quality strategies across software systems
• Own test planning, execution, and reporting for both cloud and on-premise applications
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts (75–85% automation expected)
• Write automation code using Java, Cucumber, and SQL to validate system and data integrity
• Conduct functional, smoke, and regression testing, with some manual test coverage as needed
• Collaborate closely with developers, Scrum Masters, business analysts, and other QE engineers
• Drive continuous improvement in QA processes and tools while ensuring best practices
• Act as a technical and quality leader within the team, mentoring and setting direction when needed

What You Bring

Required Skills:

• Previous leadership experience in a Senior Quality Engineer, QA Lead, or Test Automation Lead role
• Strong hands-on coding skills in Java and experience with SQL for database validation
• Experience with Cucumber, Cypress, or similar test automation frameworks
• Solid background in test automation, regression testing, and functional testing
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating cross-functionally
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical direction
• Ability to balance strategic QA planning with hands-on testing and scripting responsibilities

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Kotlin or JavaScript
• Broader exposure to automation tools and CI/CD environments
• Knowledge of testing cloud-based systems and RESTful APIs

Location & Work Environment

• 100% remote, but candidates must live within driving distance to Maine (New England-based)
• Occasional travel required for team meetings (typically a few times per year)
• Scrum-based development team with developers, BAs, QEs, and a technical lead
