The Software Engineer II (SWII) is responsible for the analysis, design, development, and testing of components for simulation and training systems. As a SWII, you will enhance design and programming capabilities and standards for complex software systems. You will collaborate with systems engineers, 3D graphic artists, technical writers, and other software engineers to drive technical designs to completion.

Important Information

This position is remote, but occasional office presence will be necessary for customer events.
This is a temporary position lasting 2-3 months
Applicant Must Be a US Citizen to be considered.
Must Be Eligible to maintain/attain a DOD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle with minimal guidance (planning, design, development, test, and deployment)
Advise and mentor junior engineers in best engineering practices and technical knowledge
Adhere to the program cost and schedule targets
Conduct software code peer reviews to validate adherence to coding standards
Assist in the development of test plans and procedures
Assist technical writers with documenting design of assigned software components
Continually apprise Team Leads and Supervisors of progress on assigned tasks

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in an engineering discipline
A minimum of four (4) years of related experience in software development
Working knowledge or fluency in
C, C#, C++, or other compiled programming language
Fundamentals of operating systems
Windows and/or Linux operating system APIs
Basic algorithms and design patterns
GIT, TFS or other software version management tool
Capable of obtaining and maintaining U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) secret security clearance
U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge or fluency in
Flight/weapon simulation systems (e.g., OFT, WST, real-time executives, distributed interactive simulation, avionics, I/O, aural cueing systems, multi-function displays interface)
Unity, Unreal, Cry or other game engine
Leadership within development team of up to five (5) software engineers
