Game Designer (Generative AI) | £116,000 | Central London, Hybrid | 12-Month Contract PAYE

What happens when game designers get generative AI to play with and the freedom to experiment properly?

That's this role. You'll join a world-class AI research team at a global tech leader. You'll build playable prototypes that explore what AI can do for games. This isn't about shipping a single title. It's about finding the mechanics, player loops and ideas that haven't been possible until now.

What's in it for you

  • £116,000 per year, paid weekly (PAYE, inside IR35)
  • 12-month contract working at the cutting edge of AI and games
  • Hybrid working, with Tuesday to Thursday in central London - 3 days
  • Annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Real creative freedom across genres, from sandbox simulation to emergent narrative

What you'll need

  • A game design track record, with shipped titles or substantial work taken from concept to playtest
  • Hands-on prototyping skills in Unity, Unreal, Godot or a scripting environment, so you build your ideas yourself
  • An obsession with game feel, controls and player agency
  • Curiosity about generative AI and a love of experimenting
  • Confidence running workshops and working with researchers and engineers
  • A portfolio or prototypes you can show us
  • The right to work in the UK

What your week might look like

  • Building a quick playable prototype around a new AI capability
  • Playtesting it, breaking it and tuning how the AI behaves
  • Leading a brainstorm on new ways AI could change gameplay
  • Turning research ideas into clear mechanics and player loops
  • Showing your work and shaping creative direction with the team
