Senior UX Designer – Contract (Remote/Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 4 months (with possible extension)

Location: 80–100% Remote – U.S. based only

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead user experience design initiatives for high-impact web applications and digital products in the education sector. This role is ideal for a seasoned design professional with a proven track record of translating user needs into intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging interfaces.

You will work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure all designs meet usability best practices, align with accessibility standards, and deliver exceptional experiences for end users.

Responsibilities:

• Lead UX/UI design efforts, ensuring designs align with best practices and accessibility standards.
• Translate research into user stories, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and product roadmaps.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers.
• Maintain a strong user-centric focus throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Present design solutions and rationales to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years in UX/UI design, digital product design, or related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing user research, visual design, and usability studies.
• Expertise in Figma (or similar tools) for wireframing and prototyping.
• Experience conducting usability research and translating insights into design improvements.
• Strong communication, writing, and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of WCAG / Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Experience leading large-scale UX/UI projects.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
• Prior work in the education sector or with state/local agencies.
