Overview: We are seeking highly skilled Visual Designers with expertise in the window coverings category to lead the aesthetic development and visual communication strategy of our home furnishing products. This role will play a key part in shaping our brand’s design direction, developing fabric visuals, and supporting go-to-market initiatives through advanced visual and digital tools. This opportunity is open to both full-time professionals and experienced contractors on a project basis.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design Strategy
Lead the end-to-end visual design framework for window coverings, including:
- Aesthetic design proposals (shape, proportion, fabric combinations)
- Fabric visual development (prints, textures, light-filtering effects)
- Scene-based application guidelines (styling within interior settings)
Define annual aesthetic strategy and seasonal color updates for the brand
Establish visual standards for key product types (e.g., blackout shades, sheers, Roman shades), including:
- Photography composition
- Motion presentation
- Material-focused close-up imagery
Fabric Visualization & Conversion
Collaborate closely with the supply chain team to translate fabric development into compelling visual assets:
- Forecast popular fabric trends for the US/EU markets
- Build a digital fabric asset library (AI-generated textures and real scanned files)
- Create rendering parameter guidelines for various light transmittance levels
- Direct photo shoots to highlight selling points such as wrinkle resistance and draping
Brand Aesthetic System Development
Build a unified visual identity system for the brand:
- Create mood boards and style matrices tailored to key audiences (e.g., North American middle-class, European minimalists)
- Define material pairing formulas and spatial styles
Lead color management across categories:
- Conduct compatibility testing between window coverings and adjacent categories (e.g., wallpaper, furniture)
- Develop scene-based color matching toolkits (e.g., pairing Morandi-tone window shades with natural wood furniture)
Design Ecosystem Innovation
Develop an AI-powered window coverings design system to support rapid iteration
Build visualization tools, such as:
- AR-based templates to preview window shade styles in real spaces
- Digital sales enablement kits for scene-based selling
Qualifications
Core Skills:
5+ years of experience in home furnishings or textile design, with strengths in:
- Independent window coverings product design proposals (with sample mockups or prototypes)
- Fabric development, with a deep understanding of jacquard, print, and embroidery techniques
- Color management expertise, including seasonal palette planning
Strategic Thinking:
- Strong system-level design thinking and experience building visual frameworks
- Familiarity with visual evolution of major home furnishing brands in the US/EU
- Ability to apply data-driven design methodologies
Preferred:
- Experience in CMF (Color, Material, Finishing) design for window coverings or textile products
- Knowledge of cross-border textile compliance standards (e.g., OEKO-TEX certification and its impact on color techniques)
