Position Summary:
We are seeking a data scientist with strong customer-facing skills to join our team. In this role, you will be a key player in using data to solve complex business problems, communicating your findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and helping our clients understand the value of our data-driven solutions. You'll be responsible for the entire data science lifecycle, from initial data exploration to deploying and monitoring models. You will work as part of our Research and Development organization and collaborate with our customers, engineers, product managers, information architects and many others at Pivotree.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement & Communication: Work directly with clients and internal business teams to understand their needs, present data insights, and guide them in making data-informed decisions. Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets. Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and other analytical techniques to predict trends, optimize performance, and identify business opportunities.
- Problem-Solving: Tackle challenging business problems using a variety of data science methods. You should be adept at identifying the right questions to ask and the appropriate data and tools to use.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineers, product managers, and other teams to ensure data pipelines and models are integrated seamlessly into our products and services.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create clear and concise documentation of your methodologies, findings, and model performance. Prepare and deliver regular reports and presentations to stakeholders.
- Contribute to a data-centric corporate culture, transmit data science acumen throughout the organization
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar STEM field.
- 3+ years professional experience with modeling and analysis in fields such as machine learning, statistical analysis, operations research, or data mining.
- 3+ years of demonstrable experience working with customers on data problems and solutions.
- 3+ years of experience with Python libraries used in data science: sklearn, pandas, numpy, matplotlib
- 3+ years of experience with Git source code management systems - branches, pull requests.
- 4+ year of experience in analytics and data visualization
- 5+ year of experience with data repositories, including SQL and no-SQL databases
- Experience creating and fine tuning AI prompts using a variety of large language models
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The right candidate will be able to translate business objectives into actionable work items, as well as communicate results
- Experience with several of the following - clustering, regression analysis, SVM, neural networks, collaborative filtering, KNN, association rules, decision trees, NLP.
- Basic familiarity with core AWS services - specifically S3, RDS, and SageMaker.
- Capable of taking responsibility for an initiative and working with minimal direction; self-starter even when assignments are vague or undefined.
Preferred:
- Experience with Agile development practices.
- Experience in eCommerce, Supply Chain, Retail technology.
