Summary of the Role:

The Sales & Marketing Manager turns Pet Awesome’s high-level strategy into profitable e-commerce growth. Reporting to our CEO, you will oversee and build up our Sales & Marketing Function to drive profitable expansion across Shopify, Amazon, social platforms, and influencer partnerships—owning everything from market pursuit to lifetime-value expansion.

You will collaborate and iterate closely with our co-founder to define deliverables, timelines, and ensure outcomes align with company goals. Collaboration will typically take place over Slack and Zoom video meetings with cameras on and occasional screen sharing when needed.

Once the goals are set, you will take ownership of executing the work and will be responsible for delivering results within the agreed-upon parameters and timelines.

Knowledge transfer, transparency and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders will be a critical part of your work to ensure we can collaborate effectively with you and participate seamlessly as needed.

Compensation:

  • Pay Rate: 700 PHP to 1100 PHP Per Hour
  • No Benefits: This is an independent contractor role; therefore, no additional benefits are provided.

Work Schedule & Availability:

  • Estimated Weekly Hours: 25-35 based on company needs and workload.
  • Flexible Hours: Structure your work schedule to meet agreed outcomes while maintaining effective communication and alignment with stakeholders.
  • Meetings & Communication: Share overlapping availability for meetings and discussions as needed, typically between 14:00 and 16:00 PST.

At Pet Awesome, we’re a small but ambitious e-commerce company specializing in pet products, currently serving our 4-legged customers (and their hoomans) in the USA and UK.

We’ve found product market fit with western women aged 25-54 who adore their small dogs as much as we do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Core Function Development: Hire key personnel, build and operationalize the Sales & Marketing function to Generate revenue from new and existing markets and customers to maximize long term profit.
  • Knowledge Capture: Capture and codify tacit know-how ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer and retention within the company, allowing repeatable and scalable training, expectations, execution and eliminating key-person risk.
  • System Development: Build, manage, and continuously improve and integrate project deliverables into business systems to maximize business output vs a given resource input through the integration of people, technology, processes, procedures and automations.
  • Market Pursuit: Identify, prioritize, position and exploit market, audience, channel & partnerships to maximize total profitability across highest yielding opportunities, including: Shopify, Amazon & social media, influencer collaborations, etc.
  • Brand/Positioning: Craft, optimize, position and safeguard a compelling offer, attractive messaging and identity that resonates with target customers, enhancing trust and pricing power across digital and physical touchpoints including: Landing pages, packaging, brochures, paid media, etc.
  • Lead & Sales Generation: Find, reach, attract, engage, inform, persuade, nurture and convert leads and customers into new and repeat buyers to maximise long-term profitability across digital advertising platforms including: Amazon, Meta, Google, Tiktok, Youtube, Pinterest, etc.
  • Customer Success: Expand the customer base and its lifetime value through the optimization of experience, retention, and monetisation—with an emphasis on driving repeat purchases, referrals, cross-sell, up-sell, and positive ratings and reviews.

  • Timesheet & Invoicing: Maintain and submit an accurate timesheet on days worked that itemizes tasks, projects, and billable hours to ensure transparency and alignment with your invoicing.
  • High Communication Standards: Provide timely updates and respond to messages promptly. Communicate clearly with attention to grammar, spelling, and detail, ensuring timely follow-ups. Ask clarifying questions to ensure mutual understanding and alignment of expectations.

Requirements:

Mandatory:

Experience/Background:

  • 3+ years – DTC Profit Accountability: You owned the levers that drive profitability and reported on profit metrics—not just ROAS—adjusting strategy to stay profitable.
  • 3+ years – Leadership: Hired, coached, and performance-managed >5 roles across ≥3 disciplines (e.g., media buying, creative, CRO, etc.). Set KPIs/OKRs and ran review cadences.
  • 2+ years – Paid Media Buying (Hands-On): Planned, launched, optimized, and scaled profitable campaigns with Meta plus at least one of the following platforms: Google, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, or Amazon for cumulative 2+ years of experience.
  • Core Function Build: Stood up a core business function from scratch and scaled it to a working team of 5 or more people/partners, put the basic stack, KPIs, and SOPs in place, and made it run without you as the single point of failure.
  • 2+ years cumulative in ≥ 2 areas – Cross-Functional Expertise:
  • Biz Ops / Systems Design / Process & SOP Documentation
  • Performance & KPI-OKR / Product / Program / Project / Change Management
  • Procurement / Logistics / Manufacturing Operations
  • Data Analytics / Engineering / Programming
  • Legal / HR / Finance
  • 1+ year - LLM Usage: Utilized any LLM model: Chat GPT, Gemini, etc. in real business contexts applied to any of the Mandatory Experience/Background areas listed above.

Preferred:

Experience/Background:

  • 1+ year - Remote Startup Experience: Led and managed a small team remotely in a <20-person company, creating lightweight processes/KPIs and driving measurable growth/profit in a low-structure environment.
  • Amazon Marketplace Management: Product listings, launches, PPC campaigns, etc.
  • International E-commerce Expansion: Launched in at least one developed market (US, CA, UK, EU, AU)
  • Influencer/UGC Programs: Built and maintained a structured partnership program with social media influencers or content creators.
