The role offers an exciting opportunity to design interfaces that empower users to explore, analyze, and make informed decisions using a variety of complex environmental data, research, and scientific information, including spatial/geospatial data.
As a UI/UX Designer, you will contribute to creating visually stunning and user-friendly digital experiences. You will work on crafting intuitive solutions that make environmental data accessible and understandable for diverse user groups. Your designs will enhance the usability and interactivity of data, reports, scientific papers, and spatial data visualizations, which are key for driving decisions on environmental protection and restoration efforts.
User Interface Design
- Design visually compelling and functional user interfaces for websites, web applications, and spatial/geospatial platforms.
- Create interfaces tailored to technologies like ESRI, ArcGIS, and other geospatial tools, balancing aesthetics with technical constraints.
- Design and optimize user interfaces with a focus on accessibility and compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to deliver inclusive and user-friendly digital experiences.
- Design responsive user interfaces that adapt to different screen sizes and types
- Develop interactive wireframes, prototypes and design mock-ups to effectively communicate design concepts.
- Ensure UI designs align with user needs, project requirements, and branding guidelines.
- Collaborate and provide flexibility in design process with developers to ensure the successful implementation of designs across various front-end technologies.
- Conduct usability testing with end users.
User Experience Design
- Apply principles of good digital interface design to create seamless and intuitive user experiences.
- Conduct user research to understand the needs, goals, and pain points of diverse user archetypes, especially for spatial and geospatial platforms.
- Perform usability testing to validate design decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop user personas, journey maps, and other UE deliverables to inform design decisions.
- Iterate on designs based on research findings and usability testing to optimise user satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with stakeholder, developers, and product owners/business owners to ensure designs are feasible and meet project objectives.
- Adapt designs to align with technological constraints and evolving requirements.
- Advocate for a user-first approach in all stages of the design and development process.
- Collaborate with other business areas such as ICT Services and Communications, to adhere to enterprise frameworks/processes
