The Software Engineer III's role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of Patterson software requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Software Engineer III will also lead the research, design, documentation and modification of software specifications throughout the development life cycle.

C#: Core language for building applications in the Microsoft stack, especially with .NET.
NET Framework / .NET Core / .NET (latest versions): Understanding the evolution and current state of .NET for building scalable applications.
Entity Framework: For object-relational mapping (ORM) and database interactions.
Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF): For desktop application development.
Universal Windows Platform (UWP): For cross-device Windows apps.
RESTful API Development: Building and consuming APIs with ASP.NET Core.
Authentication/Authorization: Implementing security with OAuth, OpenID Connect, or Azure Active Directory.
Microsoft SQL Server: In-depth understanding of relational database design, T-SQL, and optimization.
Data Modeling: Designing efficient schemas and relationships.
Microsoft Azure: Proficiency with Azure services like App Services, Functions, Blob Storage, and Virtual Machines.
Azure DevOps: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, repositories, and deployment workflows.
Visual Studio: Mastery of Microsoft’s flagship IDE for coding, debugging, and testing.
Git: Version control, including GitHub or Azure Repos integration.
Agile/Scrum: Familiarity with iterative development methodologies.
Unit Testing: Writing tests with frameworks like MSTest, NUnit, or xUnit.
Design Patterns: Understanding MVC, MVVM, Singleton, Repository, and Dependency Injection patterns.
SOLID Principles: For writing maintainable and scalable code.
Legacy Systems: Understanding older Microsoft tech like VB.NET or classic ASP (for maintenance roles).
