RETAIL LABOR OPTIMIZATION DATA SCIENTIST

Pareto is hiring experienced Retail Labor Optimization Data Scientist professionals to collaborate with a leading AI lab on a groundbreaking project. The focus is on creating high-fidelity computer-use exercises that capture real Retail & Wholesale Trade workflows—complete with starting context, step-by-step actions, decision points, and final deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and validate predictive and optimization models that translate demand signals into fair, compliant, and cost-effective store schedules.

• Deliver a forecast and optimization pipeline that reduces overtime percentage by 12% in pilot stores within the first 90 days.

• Introduce a fairness constraint that balances weekend/evening shifts with less than 5% variance across associates.

• Publish reproducible modeling artifacts including dbt models, notebooks, and tests within a continuous integration framework.

• Build forecasting models using gradient boosting and Prophet, and integer programming schedules.

• Encode labor rules and compliance; productionize solutions in Snowflake and dbt.

• Partner with HRIS to integrate availability and A/B test policies while monitoring impact.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of professional experience in Retail & Wholesale Trade or closely related field.

• English fluency (native or near-native proficiency required).

• Strong technical aptitude—STEM degree, data science background, or demonstrated skills in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, OR-Tools), SQL, dbt, and Snowflake.

• Exceptional written communication—ability to transform implicit expertise into explicit, reproducible instructions.

• Proven ability to collaborate and iterate quickly based on feedback, ensuring clarity and coverage.
