Owl Practice Suite is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Instructional Designer to develop engaging and effective educational content for our users. This role is critical in helping mental health providers adopt and maximize our platform’s features. You will work closely with product, customer success, and marketing teams to create learning experiences that reduce support needs, drive product adoption, and improve user satisfaction.
What you will be doing:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable educational content (videos, tutorials, knowledge base articles) for our software platform
- Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps across users
- Translate complex workflows and product features into clear, user-friendly instructional materials
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in product, support and marketing to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices to all training materials
- Utilize authoring tools used to publish to existing knowledge bases
- Support ongoing content updates in response to product changes and feedback
- Help build scalable onboarding and continuing education paths for therapists, practice admins, and billing specialists
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support the implementation and ongoing optimization of new knowledge base systems
- Lead or assist in the migration of educational content and help center articles from legacy platforms to new tools
- Ensure knowledge base architecture, taxonomy, and tagging meet user needs and improve discoverability
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- 3+ years of instructional design experience, ideally in SaaS or healthcare/mental health settings
- Proven ability to create multimedia learning content for technical products
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models
- Excellent written and visual communication skills
- Familiarity with mental health terminology, HIPAA, and clinical workflows is a strong plus
- Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in conducting user analysis and understanding audience needs
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Bonus: Understanding of the US insurance and benefits process
- Bonus: Knowledge of behavioral health EHR or practice management software
