OTTO is developing the world’s first fifth-generation business jet, designed for sustainability through the innovative use of advanced super-laminar aerodynamics and high-precision, net-shaped composites. Flight tests of our technology demonstrator validate a dramatic reduction in fuel burn and allow a sizeable improvement in cabin comfort. Responsibilities:
Develop and analyze flight control systems, focusing on stability and control characteristics of aircraft.
Perform flight dynamics modeling and simulation to ensure optimal performance in various flight conditions.
Collaborate with aerodynamics, propulsion, and structural teams to integrate control systems into overall aircraft designs.
Design control algorithms and systems to enhance aircraft stability, maneuverability, and handling qualities.
Conduct system identification, flight testing, and validation of control system performance.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for aircraft stability and control systems, including FAA and EASA standards.
Develop simulation models and conduct simulations for performance evaluation of aircraft control systems.
Document findings, designs, and processes in detailed technical reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
8-10+ years of experience in flight control systems design and analysis.
Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
Strong understanding of flight dynamics, stability, and control theory.
Experience with control systems simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or similar.
Knowledge of aircraft flight testing and data analysis.
Familiarity with regulatory standards for flight control systems (FAA, EASA, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with supersonic aircraft stability and control systems.
Familiarity with advanced control algorithms and autonomous flight systems.
Hands-on experience with flight control systems testing and validation.
