Optomi, in partnership with a leading company in the Health and Life Sciences industry, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join a high-impact organization that is rebuilding and maintaining one of its core internal systems—a physician-facing portal that plays a key role in diagnostics and testing workflows. This is a unique opportunity to dive into complex, legacy systems that are still mission-critical and touch the lives of patients every day.
You’ll join a development team that values reliability, accountability, and fresh thinking. The work will focus 70% on enhancements and 30% on production support. This system has been evolving over the past 14 years and still drives crucial workflows for pathologists and internal medical personnel—not patients—who rely on it to review and analyze test results.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Full stack development in a legacy Microsoft environment
- Supporting and extending a mature ASP.NET / WCF application
- Working closely with business stakeholders to solve problems and improve workflows
- Navigating stored procedure-heavy SQL Server databases
- Asking the right questions and offering smart solutions—not just coding tasks in isolation
Tech Stack:
- ASP.NET (WebForms and MVC)
- WCF (API layer)
- VB.NET
- MVP
- SQL Server (strong stored procedure use)
- C# (3.5 / 3.4 on the frontend)
What We're Looking For:
- Developers actively working in legacy Microsoft environments
- Strong SQL Server experience (this is a key interview focus)
- Experience with ASP.NET and WCF in production applications
- Candidates who can demonstrate long-term commitment (no job-hoppers)
- Comfortable collaborating and communicating with non-technical business users
- Someone who brings critical thinking and ideas to the table—not just hands on keyboard
- Ideally, a background in medical, healthcare, or high-pressure domains
Nice to Haves:
- Experience supporting healthcare or lab-based applications
- Prior exposure to high-availability internal platforms
