Senior Software Engineer (Java / Spring Batch) - Contract with potential to extend - Remote

Optomi, in partnership with a specialty home improvement supply retailer, is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support the buildout of a new, high-scale e-commerce catalog integration service. This is a fast-moving initiative designed to power the next generation of product data delivery for the website—handling 40,000+ SKUs, each with up to 200 attributes, and generating XML outputs for downstream systems. This is a contract role with strong potential for extension based on project success and performance.

What You’ll Do:

• Drive the development of a scalable catalog service using Java and Spring Batch
• Pull, process, and transform high-volume product and attribute data
• Generate optimized and reliable XML outputs at scale
• Lead by example — dividing tasks, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring high-quality technical delivery
• Troubleshoot deployment issues through Jenkins pipelines
• Contribute in Agile ceremonies and ensure sprint goals are met

Tech Environment: Java, Spring Batch, SQL, Jenkins, JUnit, Bitbucket, Azure

What We’re Looking For:

• 4+ years of experience with Java and Spring Batch
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD processes using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Azure
• Testing experience utilizing JUnit
• Excellent communicator with the ability to mentor peers, explain technical challenges, and collaborate across functions
