Data Scientist IV

OP is seeking a highly experienced Data Scientist to join a leading social media company. The primary focus of this role is to support the organization’s planning tool area by providing expert data science coverage for IC5-level initiatives. This includes conducting discovery analyses to uncover opportunities, delivering actionable insights in collaboration with engineering teams, and driving initiatives that enhance product value and impact key topline metrics. The ideal candidate will be adept at defining metrics, supporting product and feature release reporting, and executing ad-hoc data analyses to inform strategic decision-making and optimize overall platform performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.
• Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms, leading to optimal data extraction.
• Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.
• Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.
• Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but is not limited to, support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data science, statistics, analytics, and reporting.
• Experienced in either programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.
• The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics.
• Experience working with stakeholder management and able to share insights clearly and concisely.
• Product analyst experience and able to prioritize projects using business logic.
• Experience working with large datasets.

Education/Experience

• Master of Science degree in statistics, mathematics, or a relevant field.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in OP monthly team meetings, and participate in team-building efforts.
• Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
• Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
• Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
