Overview
As the Sr. Product Designer, Design Systems you'll lead the development and maintenance of a robust design system for web and mobile applications. This role will work cross-functionally to establish cohesive design standards, streamline design processes, and ensure high-quality user experiences across all digital products. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong visual design skills, deep technical understanding, and a passion for design systems at scale.
Type: Contract to hire, remote, must be in the US and meet certain requirements
Schedule: 40 hrs per week, normal business hours M-F
Pay: $65 - $75 per hour, paid weekly, benefits eligible

Sr. Product Designer, Design Systems Duties
- Own the creation, maintenance, and evolution of a scalable design system across web and mobile platforms.
- Define and document standards, components, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across products.
- Collaborate with product designers, brand designers, and engineers to implement and evolve the system.
- Drive adoption of the design system through education, documentation, and team support (e.g., office hours, pairing sessions).
- Monitor and integrate industry trends, user feedback, and research insights into system improvements.
- Advocate for design system value and promote a culture of design excellence across the organization.
- Mentor and coach product designers to elevate design standards and practices.
- Contribute to refining team processes and identifying opportunities for design operations improvements.
Sr. Product Designer, Design Systems Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on digital products across web and mobile.
- 2+ years of direct experience building and maintaining scalable design systems.
- Strong visual design and UX/UI fundamentals (hierarchy, layout, interaction design).
- Experience working in fast-paced, startup environments, particularly with 0–1 product development.
- Technical fluency in responsive design and design-to-dev collaboration.
- Proficient in Figma, and comfortable with documentation tools like Notion, Google Suite, or Confluence.
- Skilled at using both qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities across teams and disciplines.
- Experience mentoring designers and contributing to team growth.
Bonus Skills:
- Advanced visual design capabilities, including iconography and motion design.
- Prototyping skills and familiarity with animation.
- Creative and experimental mindset with an eye on emerging design trends.
