Overview
The Product Designer (Design Systems) is a remote role focused on advancing design system consolidation across mobile and web consumer products, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the mail user experience.
This position plays a critical role in driving component migration, enabling design system adoption, and supporting product and engineering teams in implementing a unified design framework. Success in this role is defined by reducing reliance on disparate components and increasing usage of a standardized, scalable design system.
Type: Remote contract (must be in the US, ideally EST or CST time zone)

Pay: $75 - $90/hr, paid weekly, benefits eligible
Product Designer (Design Systems) Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Production Designer, Product Designer, or Systems Designer within consumer tech environments
- Strong online portfolio showcasing enterprise level design system samples (if your work is all under NDA you cannot be considered; samples must be viewable)
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, variants, and system management
- Strong understanding of design systems, component architecture, and scalable UI frameworks
- Solid knowledge of mobile and web product development processes
- Experience supporting design-to-development workflows in collaboration with engineering teams
- Demonstrated ability to work within and evolve centralized design systems
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on consistency, organization, and accuracy
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to work seamlessly with product, engineering, and design stakeholders
- Experience in large-scale or enterprise environments preferred
- Highly organized, thorough, and process-driven work style
Product Designer (Design Systems) Duties
- Lead component migration efforts, consolidating legacy and disparate UI components into a unified design system
- Support ongoing design system development and maintenance, ensuring consistency across mobile and web platforms
- Partner with product and engineering teams to implement design system updates and ensure proper adoption and usage
- Contribute to the evolution of component libraries, including documentation, structure, and governance
- Monitor and drive reduction in usage of inconsistent design patterns, promoting standardization and scalability
- Ensure design deliverables align with system standards, enabling efficient design-to-development handoff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product design initiatives tied to mail and broader consumer experiences
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, organization, and detail in all system-related outputs
- Track and contribute to success metrics, including increased adoption of unified components and improved system consistency
- Provide ongoing support to ensure smooth integration of design systems into active product workflows
