Have you helped build a marketing function during a time of transformation or modernization? If you're a data-driven SaaS Marketing Director or Demand Generation Manager who has marketed point-of-sale or other retail industry software and you're interested in building for scale, this could be a great fit.

This PE-backed vertical SaaS company builds an all-in-one software platform for niche independent retailers. The platform is a clear winner in their space and runs critical business functions to help store owners grow sales, optimize inventory, and improve operating efficiency. They've grown to nearly $20M in revenue with zero outbound sales, no marketing function, and exceptional product-market fit. After a recent acquisition by a growth-focused PE firm, this company is modernizing the platform and professionalizing go-to-market in order to scale. This is a rare opportunity to be the first marketing hire at a company with product-market fit that has never measured what works or built a repeatable lead generation engine.

What You Will Own

  • Build a data-driven marketing strategy
  • Establish attribution models from scratch and create ROI-oriented reporting across all channels
  • Stand up the marketing stack and operations infrastructure from zero
  • Own event marketing strategy for trade shows and conferences
  • Deliver a repeatable pipeline of qualified leads to the sales team
  • Coordinate brand messaging refresh and website overhaul with agency partners
  • Hire 1-2 direct reports to execute content, sales enablement, and event execution

What You'll Need This role is a strong fit for Demand Generation leaders who have stood up a demand gen function for a. vertical SaaS to SMB buyers in retail or similar traditional industries.

  • Built demand gen engines as the first marketing hire at small or startup companies
  • Owned attribution modeling and can speak to marketing ROI without hesitation
  • Executed trade show and event marketing strategies beyond webinars
  • Marketed to older, traditional buyers who are not as tech-savvy
  • Hands-on IC mentality with bias for action and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience selling into retail, hospitality, or similar SMB verticals (think point-of-sale/POS, other critical ops software)

Plus Skills

  • Payments experience or integrated payments launch background
  • Marketed through product modernization or legacy software transformation
  • Comfort building systems and processes in ambiguous environments
