Role Summary
Our business is growing into new areas around tender management and full lifecycle carbon assessments. We need a product-oriented Data Scientist to help understand the technical requirements and build these solutions.
You’ll be working closely with SME’s to manage knowledge in this field, look out for automation opportunities, and build search and recommendation solutions. You'll also be joining our Data Science team, which is split across UK & Lyon (France), and work with us and Product & Engineering teams to develop products.
Job Responsibilities
- In this product-orientated DS role you will need to take high-level business requirements & work with PMs, researchers to build solutions, from prototypes to products.
- Use your knowledge of Data Science to build models, provide robust and statistical evaluations and identify key insights.
- Work with the Data Science team to discuss technical solutions and maintain our high-quality codebase.
- Maintain high development standards when building DS applications, ranging from innovative AI solutions to more classic ML or API projects.
- Communicate easily with technical and non-technical business areas.
Required Skills
- 3+ years commercial experience in building data-oriented products.
- Excellent Python programming skills, building & maintaining python packages and tooling.
- Excellent data skills - ability to manipulate, analyse and work with a variety of data types (structured & unstructured), SQL, monitoring dashboarding etc.
- Good development skills and experience with APIs, containerisation, deployment CI/CD pipelines & cloud ecosystems - we use Azure & AKS.
- Highly motivated and creative problem solver, with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently/ in a small team with internal stakeholders from technical + non-technical business areas.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of document AI; classification, information-retrieval with tools from Regex, OCR, NER, LLMs, sentence-transformers, image/ multimodal embeddings.
- Experience using LLMs (e.g. for extraction, problem solving tasks, programmatically), RAG systems or agentic workflows.
- Experience curating and managing knowledge as data, knowledge graphs/ GraphDBs (Neo4J).
- Good data visualisation skills and experience with dashboard/ prototyping tools e.g. Streamlit.
- French or Spanish language skills is a bonus.
