Cry Out Con is seeking a Freelance Marketing Manager to develop innovative promotional marketing ideas and lead execution of those ideas to drive ticket sales and manage sponsorship integration for Cry Out Con 2025 (May 1-May 3) in Houston, TX,
Term:
March 10 - May 10, 2025 [2-month project, 10-12 weekly hours]
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Communications:
- Orchestrate marketing tactic development & execution (social media, email, website, press releases, etc.) to reach the target audience effectively.
- Execute against existing marketing plan + add new tactics to reach ticket sales goal.
Content Creation and Distribution:
- Manage graphic designer to create and produce engaging promotional materials like website content, social media posts, graphics, email blasts, event flyers, and media alerts.
- Update the Conference website with new information about performers, schedule, ticketing, and venue details for 2025 and 2026.
- Liaise between PR Agency and COC team to ensure press needs are met for day of event.
- Support development and execution of social media campaigns to build excitement and drive ticket sales.
Sponsorship Management:
- Pre-Event, ensure sponsorship deal points are identified and shared with production and programming.
- On-Site, ensure sponsorship activation is executed with excellence, e.g. on-site marketing elements like signage, banners, and promotional booths.
Ticketing and Registration:
- Ongoing assessment of ticket trends to optimize media planning and marketing execution.
- Serve as a point of contact with ticketing website to manage early bird pricing, group discounts, and VIP packages for 2026 ticket sales.
Post-Event Analysis and Reporting:
- Prepare post-event reports with insights and recommendations for future festival marketing strategies.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of six (6) years in a marketing communications or advertising function.
- Project management abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong understanding of traditional and digital marketing principles and platforms (social media, email marketing, website marketing)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse team members
- Creative writing and design skills to develop engaging content
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances during the Festival
Compensation: $45/hour, freelance, Houston, TX base preferred. Must be able to dedicate 10-12 weekly hours to this project.
Location: Remote/Houston, TX-base preferred
